Principal's Message

Dear Eagle Rock Families,

I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend!  Here are a few updates:

Thank you to those that are participating in our Student Body Popcorn Sale!  We have one more week for selling – this Friday, October 18th  will be the end of the sale and we will begin to collect your envelopes.  Make sure that envelopes and order sheets are printed neatly so we can process cash and orders efficiently.  Thank you for contributing to this fund that supports technology enrichment for our students!

The second PTA association meeting of the year is Wednesday 10/16 at 6:30 pm in the MPR. Childcare will be provided. Come be a part of the discussion!

PTA thanks our community for the 44,000 and 620 members we earned during our Fall Annual Fund & Membership Drive

Thursday, October 17th is our big Shake Drill!  Teachers will review classroom and evacuation procedures with students, and teams will practice and refine response moves.  This drill is an important opportunity to reflect on needs and work with new staff members.  Please talk to your children too about what to do at home, and reassure them that drills are to be taken seriously to be prepared in the event of a real need.

Also, on Thursday, OCTOBER 17th you don’t need to cook!  Instead, join friends and family at BMPP or Five Line Tavern between 11 am and 10 pm for another DOUBLE DINE OUT FOR EAGLE ROCK!  Look for the gold flyer in your child’s backpack and bring it with you or show it on your smartphone! Don’t forget to drop your receipt in the “Dine Out for Eagle Rock” jar at the counter.

If you order pizza-to-go: mention Eagle Rock Elementary School!

If you order online: type “EAGLE ROCK ELEMENTARY” in the special request box!

Cookbook entries are due Friday 10/18. Make sure to get your families best recipes entered so they can be included in this special cookbook!

Fall Festival is Friday, October 25th.  This is a huge Eagle Rock tradition and is a success due to the collaborative efforts of all our teachers, classroom parents, and the community overall.  Thank you for helping with set up, booths, donations, clean up, and coming to have a good time!  Look towards your Room Parents for details and thank you to Mr. Franke for being our teacher point person!

Finally, we’re almost to the finish line with accepting our More than a Meal applications.  After it closes, there will be no more opportunities for us to capture anyone that qualifies for free or reduced lunch support or eligibility.  Please submit your applications if you have not done so.

Thank you all and have a wonderful evening!

The Eagle Rock Elementary School PTA seeks to promote the interests and well-being of our kids and parents at home, at school and in the community while adhering to the mission of the California State PTA. We seek to accomplish this through representation of our membership and the development and encouragement of their skills in advocacy, leadership and communication.

On behalf of the Los Angeles Unified School District's Homeless Education Office, we are excited to announce our 12th Annual Sponsor-A-Family 2019 initiative! As you can imagine the holiday season can be stressful, especially for families experiencing homelessness. Many of our parents and guardians are struggling to meet their family’s basic needs and may not be able to afford to give their children gifts and the holiday experience they would like.

Our sponsors are the key to bringing the magic of the holidays to our students and families. As a result, you are receiving this email as you may have been a previous sponsor or have expressed interest in participating in this great opportunity.

We invite you to become a sponsor!  After registering to become a sponsor, we will work to match you with one of our identified families. If matched, you will receive a brief description of the family and their wish list. The wish list can be used as a guide to assist you in shopping for the family.

Please note that due to confidentiality, our sponsors cannot meet the families. However, all sponsors will receive a thank you card from the family they sponsored!
